MUMETAL® trademark added to
Magnetic Shield product mix.
In an announcement released to the industry earlier this month, Magnetic Shield Corporation, Perfection Mica Company, announced the successful acquisition of the MUMETAL® trademark.
Making the announcement was James Fox, President of Magnetic Shield Corporation, and Jim Powers, representing the family that owns Magnetic Shield Corporation.
Since MUMETAL®'s development in the 1920s, the magnetic shielding material and name grew in acceptance and awareness throughout the industry to become a widely recognized term for high performance magnetic-shielding alloy, Mr. Fox stated in the release.
In the intervening years, the MUMETAL® name has been used, sometimes incorrectly, to describe a variety of annealed materials. "A search of the Internet yields many interesting examples and uses of the name", Mr. Fox said.
"It is our intention to aggressively protect the integrity of the MUMETAL® mark and associated product," he continued.
Companies that have used the MUMETAL® term on their web sites or in sales literature have been advised by letter that MUMETAL® is a registered trademark of Magnetic Shield Corporation.
"If they wish to use the trademarked term, we have requested they acknowledge our rights as owner. To date, everyone we've contacted has been receptive and very cooperative," Mr. Fox stated.
